St Mary's is located in a beautiful spot overlooking Santa Barbara and just glancing at the posted images brings back such vivid memories I was a Novice in the Congregation of the Mission (Vincentians) Seminary there in 1978-79 at St Mary's. It looks as if the Seminary has fared well over the years...it looks in much better shape than I'm in ๐. Many, many hours were spent walking the hillside and park trails watching the beautiful sunsets on the Pacific, the smell of the orange groves that I can smell even now. I hope those who use this place now receive the same peace and joy that I experienced. I didn't go on to the priesthood, as this wasn't my vocation, but served in the military for 30 years.
Epic view a very romatic
This place is unbelievable. The drive up the hill is about 10 minutes. These 10 minutes were a process of building up the expectation. The higher up I drove, the more I wondered how it would look like all the way at the top. I arrived at the address according to Google Map, but couldn't see any buildings but trees and cliffs. I searched for a few minutes and decided to continue driving. As I made a turn, bam, all of a sudden an entrance appeared. The last stretch to the seminary is dangerously steep but manageable in my small rental car. The view is stunning from the garden. It was so tranquil that I could almost hear the statues of Mary whispering. A must visit in Santa Barbara regardless of your spiritual background.
